$30.5M Lashify Verdict Earns Law.com Lauds

A $30.5 million jury award for Lashify landed the beauty brand’s Fenwick patent litigation team among the week’s top litigators in Law.com’s Runners-Up and Shout-Outs column on Friday.

The honor comes after a Waco, Texas federal jury on Aug. 23 found that defendant Qingdao Lashbeauty Cosmetic Co. (dba: Worldbeauty) willfully infringed three Lashify patents covering artificial eyelash extensions. The jury also sided with Lashify on Worldbeauty’s invalidity defense, ultimately awarding $30.5 million in lost profits and a reasonable royalty of $3.6 million.

Litigation team leaders Saina Shamilov and Melanie Mayer earned special recognition by Law.com, along with partner J. David Hadden and associate Jon McMichael. The Fenwick team also included partners Bryan A. Kohm and Shannon Turner, counsel Jeffrey Ware, and associates Jessica Benzler and Daniel Emam.

It’s the latest in a series of IP litigation victories on behalf of Lashify. In a separate case last year, Fenwick won a rare preliminary injunction preventing another company from using a Lashify trademark.
