Fenwick Secures $30.5 Million Jury Verdict for Lashify in Patent Infringement Case

On August 23, 2024, a west Texas federal jury awarded Lashify Inc., inventor of the DIY Lash Extension System, a substantial victory in a patent infringement case against Qingdao Lashbeauty Cosmetic Co., (dba: Worldbeauty). The jury found that Worldbeauty willfully infringed three of Lashify’s patents, awarding Lashify $30.5 million in lost profits and set a 30% royalty rate.

Lashify brought the lawsuit in July 2022 accusing Worldbeauty of copying its patented eyelash extension technology. This verdict is a critical milestone in Lashify’s broader litigation strategy to protect its intellectual property and business. The company has engaged in multiple legal battles across federal courts in Texas, California, and Utah, as well as before the International Trade Commission (ITC).

Litigation partner Saina Shamilov led the Fenwick team that also includes partners Melanie Mayer, Shannon Turner, Bryan Kohm, and J. David Hadden as well as associates Jon McMichael, Jonathan Tamimi, Jessica Benzler, and Dan Emam.

The case is Lashify Inc. v. Qingdao Lashbeauty Cosmetic Co., case number 6:22-cv-00776, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
