James’s corporate practice focuses on representing clients in the startup and venture capital space, as counsel to emerging companies across varied industries and growth stages as well as to venture capital and corporate strategic investors. His background includes advising companies with respect to formation, equity and convertible debt financings, secondary sales and exit transactions, and advising investors with respect to minority equity investments, joint ventures and private company M&A.
Prior to joining Fenwick, James’s experience includes working as a corporate associate at a leading international law firm and co-founding a legal tech software startup.
James received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of the Virginia Sports & Entertainment Law Journal.
