Cara is a patent agent with more than 10 years of experience representing domestic and international clients innovating in the chemical arts. She has expertise in organic and medicinal chemistry, formulations (including food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics), polymers, packaging, catalysis, and chemical manufacturing.

Cara provides strategic patent portfolio development, management, and counseling. She prepares and prosecutes patent applications directly with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and pursues international patent protection via a network of trusted foreign associates. Cara utilizes expedited examination programs, various USPTO pilot programs, and has a detailed understanding of adversarial proceedings in foreign patent offices.

Cara also assists with preparation of legal opinions, e.g., patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity opinions, and conducts due diligences of patent estates.

Cara holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Emory University, where her thesis focused on the design, synthesis, and biological activity of N-methyl-D-Aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonists for treatment of neurological diseases. During her time at Emory, she also interned in the Office of Technology Transfer.
