Fenwick today announced that Carrie Schroll has joined the firm as counsel in its Washington, D.C. office. Schroll’s arrival continues the firm’s robust expansion of its regulatory practice, which has added a dozen other lawyers to its bench in recent years, enhancing Fenwick’s capabilities and commitment to tackling complex regulatory issues in a dynamic global environment.
Schroll brings nearly a decade of international trade experience across a variety of industry sectors, including technology, software, telecommunications, consumer goods, and transportation. Her background includes guiding clients through compliance matters relating to trade controls, conducting related internal investigations, and interfacing with government officials on trade issues and legal and policy developments.
“As technology and life sciences businesses face an ever-growing wave of regulatory and geopolitical uncertainty, Carrie’s in-depth background counseling clients on a wide range of sanctions and trade compliance issues will make her an invaluable addition to our growing team,” said Mark Ostrau, chair of the firm’s regulatory practice. “Her comprehensive understanding of advanced technologies—from quantum computing to semiconductors and more—will be critical in our efforts to serve our many clients in these innovative sectors. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the firm.”
“Fenwick’s commitment to pioneering legal strategies and significant investment in regulatory strength are what drew me to the firm,” added Schroll. “I am excited to add my expertise to such a dynamic and evolving team that consistently stays ahead of the curve by anticipating and adapting to global regulatory changes.”
At Fenwick, Schroll’s practice will focus on counseling related to economic sanctions, export and import controls, anti-money laundering and anti-boycott laws, and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) regulations. Her role will involve leading large-scale, global internal investigations related to compliance with economic sanctions and export controls. Additionally, she will advise clients on international trade and anti-corruption due diligence in connection with corporate transactions.
