Fenwick Recognized Among Nation’s Leading Patent Firms by IAM Patent 1000

Fenwick and its patent practitioners have been recognized in the 2022 issue of Law Business Research’s IAM Patent 1000, a guide to the world’s leading firms and individuals practicing patent law.

IAM Patent 1000 ranked Fenwick among the top firms nationally and in California for patent transactions, patent prosecution and patent litigation work. The guide also honored the firm for patent litigation in Washington and New York and for its patent prosecution group in New York.

The guide recognized 32 Fenwick lawyers as leading practitioners in California, Washington and New York in the patent transactions, patent prosecution and patent litigation categories, as well as nationally for post-grant proceedings and international trade commission work.

IAM Patent 1000 highlighted Fenwick’s commitment to its roots when praising the Seattle-based Washington patent team, saying the practice “is renowned for its technology and life sciences prowess. It represents a number of world-leading innovative companies and has been at their side since they were start-ups.”

The guide noted that this prowess has helped Fenwick expand beyond the west coast. “Not just the talk of the town in Silicon Valley, Fenwick & West has a global reputation as one of the world’s best technology law outfits,” the guide said, describing the California patent practice. “A number of its household-name clients have instructed the group since the birth of their businesses, which speaks to the quality and impact of its patent work and its ability to use IP tools to bring about rapid and massive commercial growth.”

When describing Fenwick’s New York practice, the IAM Patent 1000 guide said, “Fenwick & West has grown enormously in the past five to six years, and though still closely tied to the West Coast tech scene…it can no longer be accurately or fairly described as a Silicon Valley outfit.” “Better placed than ever to service its clients’ global needs, [Fenwick] is expanding rapidly in New York.” The guide also noted the firm’s continued growth in Washington, DC.

Recently, Managing IP named Fenwick as the U.S. Patent Prosecution Firm of the Year for the second time in five years, and Patexia recognized Fenwick's Patent Litigation Group as the Best Performing Law Firm Overall (Representing Defendants and Plaintiffs) in a ranking of the top 100 best performing and most active patent litigation law firms and lawyers.
