Fenwick partners Stefano Quintini and Matthew Rossiter were named Attorney of the Year in their respective practice areas by Euromoney’s LMG Life Sciences at its 2023 Americas Awards. The awards honor the leading firms and practitioners in the life sciences sector in the U.S., Canada and Brazil. Stefano and Matt, who co-lead Fenwick’s Life Sciences group alongside partner Melanie Mayer, were recognized as the Licensing & Collaboration Attorney of the Year and the Venture Capital Attorney of the Year, respectively.
Under their leadership, the Life Sciences group has advised on more than 400 partnering and licensing matters, including those related to antibodies, gene and cell therapies and medical devices in the last five years. The group has recently handled more than 180 life sciences venture financing transactions, with a cumulative value in excess of US $3.8 billion, and notably guided two of the sector’s most significant deals this summer: Chinook Therapeutics’ multi-billion acquisition by Novartis AG and DICE Therapeutics’ $2.4 billion acquisition by Eli Lilly.
As a testament to the breadth of the group’s expertise, LMG Life Sciences honored Fenwick as a finalist for Firm of the Year in four different categories: corporate, Hatch-Waxman litigation (branded), licensing & collaboration and venture capital. Additionally, the following partners received shortlist recognitions in their respective practice areas:
• Julia Forbess, U.S. Rising Star – Financial & Corporate
• Carl Morales, New York Patent Strategy Attorney of the Year
• Jeffrey Oelke, Hatch-Waxman Litigator of the Year – Branded
