Fenwick litigation partner Melanie L. Mayer, Ph.D. has been named to the Managing Intellectual Property (Managing IP) list of Top 250 Women in IP 2022. The list recognizes senior female IP practitioners in private practice around the world who have performed exceptionally for their clients and firms in the past year.
Melanie, who has also been named Washington’s Outstanding Litigator of the Year by Managing IP the last two years, leads cases involving a range of technologies—from biotechnology to e-commerce and high-performance computing systems—for some of the world’s most innovative companies. With a strong record of success in the courtroom, her practice covers intellectual property litigation and dispute resolution, such as patent infringement and licensing disputes. As the firm’s life sciences industry co-chair, Melanie is particularly well-versed in life sciences matters, including those related to pharmaceuticals, medical devices, enzyme variants, polymers and drug screening and delivery platforms.
Melanie also serves as the diversity lead in Fenwick’s Seattle office. She is involved in efforts to encourage more women lawyers to pursue careers in IP litigation, and advocates for programs that can advance the retention and professional development of women attorneys.
