Fenwick announced today that Vedia Biton Eidelman has joined as trade & national security counsel in the firm’s regulatory group in Washington, DC.
Eidelman focuses her practice on regulatory, national security and trade policy related matters. She has extensive experience with sanctions, export controls, antiboycott matters, free trade agreement negotiations, customs issues and transactional due diligence. Eidelman’s keen familiarity with regulatory bodies such as the Office of Foreign Assets Control, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States gives her tremendous insight into the inner-workings of the government and trade policy development.
Eidelman’s arrival demonstrates significant, continued growth for the Fenwick regulatory team and the Washington, DC office. In late 2021, trade & national security partner Melissa Duffy, in addition to antitrust partners Steve Albertson and Tom Ensign, joined the firm and helped launch the DC office, which officially opened in April. Fenwick also recently added government contracts partners Joyce Tong Oelrich and Zohra Tejani to the group in DC, as well as expanded its regulatory capabilities in California by welcoming Santa Monica-based healthcare regulatory partner Jennifer Yoo this year.
“We are pleased to welcome Vedia to our rapidly growing regulatory group in DC,” said Mark Ostrau, Fenwick’s regulatory chair. “Her expertise with complex trade-related laws and regulations deepens our capabilities and brings enhanced support as we guide our clients through the ever-evolving regulatory landscape.”
“I am excited to join Fenwick’s regulatory group in DC and to play a key part in expanding our presence in the area,” said Eidelman. “The firm’s commitment to innovation is inspiring and I am looking forward to delivering creative solutions for our clients’ cutting-edge trade and national security matters.”
Eidelman has a proven ability to guide companies through complex, highly regulated areas, including the technology sector, and has developed strong relationships with clients in the aerospace, communications, defense, energy, manufacturing and transportation sectors. Before joining Fenwick, Eidelman advised clients in the DC trade practices of two global law firms and was in-house counsel for a DC-area tech company.
