Fenwick, in partnership with the National Women's Law Center, has submitted a formal demand letter to CVS Health on behalf of our pro bono client, Angela Costales, regarding its discriminatory practices and unlawful denial of Ms. Costales’ medication after she suffered a miscarriage. A CVS Pharmacy in San Diego, CA refused to fill Ms. Costales’ medication order for misoprostol or provide her with any alternative method of procuring her medication, violating both California and federal civil rights law. In the letter, Fenwick and NWLC seek compensation for Ms. Costales and demand that CVS take immediate steps to ensure that no patient is denied their medication in the future, including by training its employees on their legal obligations.
