Crain’s Names Fenwick One of the Best Places to Work in New York City

Fenwick & West has been named one of Crain’s 2019 Best Places to Work in New York City, the annual list that recognizes the companies that have built a great corporate culture and go the extra mile for their employees.

One of only seven law firms honored on Crain’s entire list, Fenwick was ranked sixth overall — and was the top-ranked law firm — in the midsize companies category.

Fenwick opened its New York office in 2016 to better serve the area’s technology, life sciences and investment communities. The office — which last year moved to its new location in the Flatiron district — has grown nearly ten-fold since its launch, from six lawyers and three other professionals on opening day to nearly sixty lawyers and twenty-five other professionals today. The office supports Fenwick clients in practice areas that include startup and venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, licensing and technology transactions, privacy and data security, patent and trademark, technology and life sciences IP litigation, and employee benefits and executive compensation.

Fenwick fully supports a collaborative office culture between and among all lawyers and other professionals where everyone is encouraged and empowered to be valuable contributors to the office’s growth and to take ownership over their career development and success. In addition to the positive work environment, the firm offers a variety of work-life balance benefits such as reduced hours and flexible schedules, telecommuting, supplementary childcare, fitness and wellness reimbursement, and a market-leading parental leave policy.

Fenwick is also regularly recognized as a leading law firm for diversity, including being named among the top five most diverse law firms by The American Lawyer this year. The firm also received a perfect score on The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for its policies and practices in support of the LGBTQ+ community for the tenth consecutive year. Additionally, Euromoney recently named Fenwick the best national firm for women in business law, and — for the sixth consecutive year — honored it as the best firm in North America for both its pro bono work and its mentoring program.

Produced by Crain’s in partnership with Best Companies Group, the Best Places to Work in New York list involved surveys of more than 20,000 employees who answered questions on working conditions, benefits and corporate culture.
