For the second year in a row, Fenwick corporate partner Ran Ben-Tzur has earned recognition as a Capital Markets MVP by Law360. He is honored for his leadership advising on several landmark public listings last year.
Ben-Tzur was part of the Fenwick team that led cybersecurity firm SentinelOne in its $1.4 billion initial public offering, making it the highest-valued cybersecurity company in history at the time of IPO. He also advised GitLab, a DevOps platform, on its $801 million IPO and customer experience technology company UserTesting on its $140 million IPO. The companies all went public in 2021. In 2022, he also advised Zuora, a subscription management company, on a convertible note transaction for up to $425 million.
In describing his successful year, Ben-Tzur highlighted the Fenwick capital markets team and their ability to stay ahead of the frenzy while maintaining a high quality of service. “It was a testament to our team, how they functioned to provide the highest level of services to our clients and think about ways to get in the trenches with them, help them throughout their very fast-paced processes,” Ben-Tzur said.
Ben-Tzur said he is a capital markets attorney because he enjoys the collaborative nature of the practice and how all parties on a deal are working towards the same goal. “We're ultimately helping our clients tell a story, not just to public company investors but also a whole host of other stakeholders, employees, customers, regulators, etc.” he said. “We're obviously a small piece of that storytelling puzzle, but I enjoy helping my clients go through that exercise. It helps us think through how to position their company.”
In 2021, Ben-Tzur was also named to Law360’s list of MVPs for advising Coinbase, the first major crypto company to go public, in its direct listing on Nasdaq in April 2021 and five months later, in its $2 billion convertible notes offering.
