Fenwick has grown its media technology practice with the addition of Vejay Lalla as a partner in its New York office.
Lalla’s practice focuses on technology, IP and digital media transactions, and he counsels leading content and media companies—both traditional and online—along with ad tech, media tech, marketing communication, consumer products, fashion and beauty brands, and health and wellness startups, in navigating the convergence of technology, advertising, media, e-commerce and entertainment.
Lalla talked to Law360 and The Recorder about his move and mentioned he was drawn to Fenwick for its core focus on technology companies.
“We’ve just seen such a dramatic shift in the industries and the market where advertising and entertainment are no longer standalone industries. They’ve really been disrupted by and enabled by technology,” Lalla told Law360.
He noted that Fenwick offered deeper resources in technology issues, particularly with respect to IP and corporate matters, allowing him to fill his existing clients’ growing technology needs and continue to expand his base of technology clients.
“It’s been a phenomenal experience at Fenwick in terms of the depths of the practices, really being able to spend time with people who have extensive experience related to IP or patent or technology issues that go beyond one industry and really focus on the emerging company space entirely,” Lalla said.
Fenwick’s New York office is rapidly growing, having more than quadrupled in size in less than two years. In addition to Lalla, Fenwick recently added six new IP litigation partners along with corporate partner Matthew Cantor.
