Fenwick Secures Permanent Injunction in Patent Infringement Case

As reported by Law360 (subscription required), a Fenwick patent litigation team successfully secured a permanent injunction for client National Products Inc., preventing their competitor, GPS Lockbox, from selling products that infringed on NPI’s patent.

On December 5, 2024, a district judge in the Western District of Washington issued a permanent injunction, prohibiting Innovative Intelligent Products LLC, which does business as GPS Lockbox, from manufacturing or selling cases and mounts for electronic devices that infringe NPI's patents. The injunction followed the court’s determination at summary judgment that GPS Lockbox infringes several of NPI’s patent claims and that those claims are valid and enforceable. The next step in this long-running and hard-fought case will be a trial to determine the appropriate amount of damages for GPS Lockbox’s past infringement.

In a patent landscape where it is often difficult for patent owners to block the sales of infringing products, this outcome reinforces the strength of NPI’s patents and serves as a deterrent for would-be infringers.

The Fenwick team included David Tellekson, Jonathan Tamimi, Jessica Kaempf, and Jon McMichael.

The case is National Products Inc v. Innovative Intelligent Products LLC, 2:20-cv-00428, (W.D. Wash.)
