Fenwick & West represented Saildrone, Inc., a leading provider of high resolution ocean data collected via a fleet of unmanned surface vehicles, in its $60 million Series B financing. Horizons Ventures led the round with participation from existing investors, including Capricorn’s Technology Impact Fund, Lex Capital, Social Capital and The Schmidt Family Foundation.
Saildrone will use the funds to continue building the next generation of ocean infrastructure to provide critical data for understanding weather, fish population and ocean science. Through successful partnerships with US agencies such as NOAA and NASA, and a recently announced multi-year collaboration with Australia-based CSIRO, Saildrone will be able to accelerate its manufacturing and deployment of autonomous vehicles needed to achieve global coverage of the world’s oceans. More information about Saildrone’s $60 million Series B financing can be obtained from the company announcement.
The Fenwick transaction team was led by corporate lawyers Michael Esquivel, Malcolm Katz, Will Black, Amanda Baratz and Alejandro Almodovar; technology transactions lawyer Stefano Quintini; and executive compensation and employee benefits lawyer Shawn Lampron.
