Fenwick represented Databricks, the lakehouse company, in its acquisition of Okera, a data governance platform with a focus on AI.
Databricks plans to integrate Okera’s technology into its Unity Catalog, its existing governance solution of data and AI assets. The acquisition will also enable Databricks to expose additional APIs that its own data governance partners will be able to use to provide solutions to their customers. More information can be obtained from Databrick’s blog post.
The Fenwick transaction team included corporate partners Victoria Lupu, David Bell, Ethan Skerry and Eric Shedlosky and associates Brendan Montgomery, Riddhi Adhikari and David Heath; technology transactions partners Joseph Schenck and Ralph Pais, associate Ellis Liang and advisor Sandra Weustink; executive compensation and employee benefits partner Shawn Lampron, counsel Jane Piehler and associates Jonathan Stephenson and Cynthia Yuan; privacy and cybersecurity partner Tyler Newby and associate Heba Tawadross; employment litigation partner Dan McCoy and associates Reanne Swafford-Harris and Oliver Katz; tax partner Mike Knobler and associate Kris Hatch; and trade and national security partner Melissa Duffy and associate Sofia Chalat.
