“Technotainment” 2024: Distributing Content Across Multiple Platforms

Hosted By: Practicing Law Institute

Subscriptions are not new – who used to pay a monthly fee for cassette tapes mailed to them every month or had a magazine subscription? What is new is how to make those offers to consumers in a digital environment, be that a streaming video service or a monthly video game subscription. Fenwick litigation counsel Kimberly Culp will attend Technotainment to lead a session titled, "New Technologies Employing Old Revenue Strategies: The Risks and Rewards of Recurring Subscriptions" to explore the unique and cutting-edge legal issues arising out of the convergence of technology and entertainment.

After completing this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the current legal framework for implementing a subscription program in digital entertainment;
  • Be able to identify potential dark patterns as they apply to recurring revenue-generation strategies; and
  • Counsel their clients on how to implement recurring revenue generation strategies to minimize litigation or enforcement risk.
