Mountain View, CA (September 15, 2015)– Fenwick & West is pleased to announce that partners Gordon Davidson, Jeffrey Vetter and Ted Wang have been named among the top 100 most influential lawyers in California by the Daily Journal. The legal publication’s annual Top 100 list honors attorneys “doing the most cutting-edge work in litigation, regulation and corporate transactions.”
Ted Wang debuts on the Top 100 list this year. Heralded by TechCrunch as a “midwife to the unicorns,” the corporate partner has worked with some of the world’s most innovative startups, including Dropbox, Facebook, Bonobos, Spotify, ZenPayroll and Zuora. He also curates the Series Seed documents, which have helped standardize funding documents for early-stage startups.
He likens his work counseling startups to serving as a river guide. "You have these people who are very, very smart, but they've never been down this river before: forming a company, building it, taking it public and selling it," Wang told the Daily Journal. "I've done this many times before and I know what the obstacles are."
In a little more than a year, Ted has served as lead counsel on more than $2 billion in financings—including representing Coupang, the largest and fastest growing e-commerce player in Korea, in its $1 billion Series H financing. He also represented MyFitnessPal in its much buzzed about $475 million acquisition by UnderArmour. Wang is recognized by Chambers as a leading venture capital lawyer and TechCrunch profiled him as one of “40 People Who Are Living Proof You Can Make It in Silicon Valley after 40.”
Jeffrey Vetter is one of the top IPO lawyers representing issuers worldwide and is also noted for his capital markets work on behalf of underwriters. During his career, Vetter has guided more than 50 companies through IPOs including Facebook, King Digital Entertainment, LendingClub and Workday. Most recently, he represented Fitbit in its $732 million offering, the largest U.S. technology IPO of 2015 to date.
Vetter embraces opportunities to build on his deep knowledge and vast experience. "The market is dynamic, so you're always learning about new technologies and new business models," Vetter told the Daily Journal. "I learn something new on every transaction I'm involved in.”
He was previously honored on the Daily Journal’s Top 100 list in 2013. The Recorder also named Vetter the 2012 Attorney of the Year and Chambers recognized him for capital markets: debt & equity.
Former Fenwick chairman Gordon Davidson has been consistently honored on the Top 100 list since 2012. The prominent Silicon Valley lawyer has guided over 50 public offerings and acted as lead counsel for more than 100 mergers and acquisitions valued at more than $75 billion in aggregate. In the past year, he represented Uber in two separate $1.2 billion financings, Spansion in a $4 billion merger with Cypress Semiconductor, and numerous other deals. Davidson’s other prominent clients include Cisco Systems, Facebook, Google-backed Calico, Intuit, ServiceNow, Shutterfly, Symantec and Workday.
Davidson is “one of the preeminent lawyers in the country” and “being able to tap into his wisdom is invaluable,” said clients speaking to Chambers where Davidson has also received significant recognition. In addition, The National Law Journal named him among the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America.
