Highlights of the Summer Associate Program

Work Assignments—Summer associates receive work assignments in three ways: the intranet work assignment system, practice group workflow coordinators, and the free market work assignment system. These systems allow summer associates to choose work assignments, be assigned work through practice group work flow or obtain work assignments through the network of attorneys that you develop over the summer. Most importantly, this system allows you to participate in a variety of work assignments that best suit your interests.

Training and Development—At Fenwick & West, a commitment to training and development of our associates is part of our culture—and summer associates are no exception. We provide structured and hands-on training, not only while you're actively working, but throughout the year. Some of the summer associate training programs we've offered include a deposition clinic, writing workshop, negotiations seminar and listening skills program.

Mentoring—As part of our support program, you'll be paired with an "associate buddy" or mentor attorney—usually a recent grad and typically a former summer associate. Your mentor will provide support and guidance throughout the summer program

Events—No summer would be complete without a few special events designed to highlight the Bay Area's unique attractions and enhance your summer experience with Fenwick. Past summer events have included sailing excursion on the San Francisco Bay, white water rafting, a Yosemite weekend, Napa Valley wine tasting, cooking classes, baseball games and numerous informal dinners and barbecues.
