As part of the development program, associates are assigned to a "Confidential Advisor Program." The overall goal of this program is to build productive relationships between junior and senior attorneys at Fenwick & West, which enhance the acculturation, work experience and career development of new associates and more specifically to:

Fenwick & West is delighted to announce that we have become a Founding Member of the Project for Attorney Retention

The Project for Attorney Retention (PAR) works to stem unwanted attrition among lawyers — a benefit for both legal employers and the lawyers themselves — by promoting work/life balance and the advancement of women in the legal profession. The Project for Attorney Retention is an initiative of the Center for WorkLife Law at the University of California Hastings College of the Law. It was formerly known as the Program on Gender, Work and Family at American University Washington College of Law. It is funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and other grantors, and supported by the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia.

Twenty-three law firms have joined PAR as Founding Members. Fenwick & West has committed to PAR as a sustaining member. As sustaining members, we receive advance briefings on PAR's research, and teleconferences with PAR experts about current retention and work/life issues. In addition to these benefits, we have access to PAR reports on reduced schedule work arrangements in law firms and corporate law departments, as well as access to current studies which focus on partners who are working reduced schedules (launched in 2007). In addition to supporting PAR's on-going work, we receive benefits such as a review of our reduced schedule policies and access to teleconferences designed to maximize success for our attorneys who work a reduced schedule.
