Mountain View, CA (November 11, 2015) – Fenwick & West is pleased to announce that the firm has been named Technology Law Firm of the Year for outstanding mergers and acquisition work at the 2015 M&A Atlas Awards for Americas Middle Markets. The firm also received the USA Large Middle Markets Deal of the Year and the North America Corporate Deal of the Year.
“The winners have achieved the highest performance and deal execution standards, representing the very best from a highly competitive mid-markets segment,” Global M&A Network CEO and Global Group Editor Shanta Kumari said of Fenwick and the firm’s fellow honorees in a statement.
In addition to receiving M&A Atlas’ inaugural Technology Law Firm of the Year award, the firm was awarded the USA Large Middle Markets Deal of the Year for its representation of MyFitnessPal in the company’s $475 million acquisition by UnderArmour, the Maryland-based sports footwear, apparel and accessories company. The acquisition of MyFitnessPal, a mobile app and website that allows users to track, learn, communicate and improve their health and wellness, will further enable the UnderArmour brand to provide health and fitness data and insight.
The Fenwick team advising MyFitnessPal included corporate attorneys Ted Wang, Andrew Luh, Vishal Dave, Nam Kim, Tahir Golden and Doug Sharp; technology transactions attorney Chris Joslyn; executive compensation and employee benefits attorneys Shawn Lampron and Mona Clee; and tax partner Adam Halpern.
Fenwick also received the North America Corporate Deal of the Year for Small Middle Markets for representing ActiveVideo in its joint venture acquisition by ARRIS Group and Charter Communications. ActiveVideo is the developer of CloudTV, the only cloud-based software platform that enables service providers, content aggregators and CE manufacturers to virtualize CPE functions in the cloud. Charter uses ActiveVideo's platform to power its new fully featured, cloud-based Spectrum Guide. The Fenwick team representing ActiveVideo included Mark Leahy, Larissa Neumann, Mark Ostrau, Shawn Lamrpon, Jordan Koss, Shen Zhang, Taylor Cashwell, Marshall Mort and Nam Kim as well as visiting Allen & Overy attorney Julie van den Bergh.
One of the leading technology M&A practices in the nation, Fenwick consistently receives recognition at the M&A Atlas Awards. Last year, M&A Atlas awarded Fenwick the Technology Deal of the Year and Emerging Markets Deal of the Year at the M&A Atlas Awards for Global Markets. Bloomberg also recently ranked the firm as one of the top 10 M&A legal advisors in the U.S. across all industries. According to data compiled by Mergermarket, Fenwick handles more technology M&A than any firm worldwide.
